Sparkling Concord Grape is a good drink!

October 20, 2012 |

There are so many grape-mimicking beverages on the market which contain none of grape but artificial colorants and flavors instead. Chadwick Bay’s Sparkling Concord Grape beverage is a nicely different story. You can get specifics of the beverage from Walmart website. But let me tell you what the beverage is exactly made of and if it is safe to drink. In my opinion, yes, it is safe because no questionable food additives were used. Take a look for yourself.

Stevia leaf extract is a natural sweetener, which, according to the Wikipedia  is a genus of about 240 species of herbs and shrubs in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to subtropical and tropical regions from western North America to South America. The species Stevia rebaudiana, commonly known as sweetleaf, sweet leaf, sugarleaf, or simply stevia, is widely grown for its sweet leaves. As a sweetener and sugar substitute, stevia’s taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, although some of its extracts may have a bitter or licorice-like aftertaste at high concentrations. In relation to diabetes, studies have shown stevia to have a revitalizing effect on β-cells of pancreas, improve insulin sensitivity in rats, and possibly even to promote additional insulin production, helping to reverse diabetes and metabolic syndrome. Stevia consumed before meals significantly reduced postprandial insulin levels compared to both aspartame and sucrose.A 2011 review study concluded that stevia sweeteners would likely benefit diabetic patients.

Bottom line. Yes, you can safely enjoy Chadwick Bay’s Sparkling Concord Grape 50% juice beverage without fear. Even if you are diabetic you can carefully try the beverage. Just watch your sugar content and remember that only plain pure water is the best natural zero calories drink our body really needs. Educate yourself, hydrate yourself straight!
